EPHESIANS 4:20-24
BUT YOU HAVE NOT SO LEARNED CHRIST,
IF INDEED YOU HAVE HEARD HIM AND BEEN TAUGHT BY HIM, AS THE TRUTH IS IN JESUS:
THAT YOU PUT OFF,  CONCERNING YOUR FORMER CONDUCT,
THE OLD MAN WHICH GROWS CORRUPT
ACCORDING TO DECEITFUL LUSTS, AND BE RENEWED IN THE SPIRIT OF YOUR MIND,
AND THAT YE PUT ON THE NEW MAN WHICH WAS CREATED ACCORDING TO GOD,
IN TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS.

When we ask the Lord into our lives, we become new men and woman in Christ Jesus. The old ways, in which we lived, before we came to Christ, must be put to death, in order that we may be effective in the Kingdom of God. We must crucify our flesh (old ways/sinful ways) in order that we may not live in accordance with ways that are not of our leader and savior…Christ Jesus. The Fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control. Those who live by the spirit are not under the law…but those who live by the flesh are under the law and must pay for their sins by death. The death of our Lord Jesus was atonement for our sins…do not live foolishly... lusting after every vile thing…but desire righteousness, and wisdom, through faith, by which you can overcome (kill) the enemy and that old man (that old flesh) which wars against your soul.
