IRON SHARPENS IRON

PROVERBS 27:17
AS IRON SHARPENS IRON,
SO A MAN SHARPENS THE COUNTENANCE OF HIS FRIEND.

The Sword of the Spirit (word of God) is sharper than any double edged sword. When we hide the word of God in our hearts it becomes an offensive weapon that is an extension of your faith inside of you... it comes out when the Holy Spirit quickens your spirit to take up arms (stand in the name of Jesus). When we are preaching the gospel, or debating with someone about the word of God, we are using the Sword of the Spirit to pierce the heart of the individuals we are speaking to. The sword divides soul and spirit to seek out the truth, exposing the darkness to the light, ripping apart all sin, unrighteousness, and falsehood. Let us not only turn the sword of the spirit on unbelievers but on each other as soldiers sharpening our skills to be battle ready whenever the time comes.

Sparring is the means by which two fighters perform their skills on each other to better their individual offense and defense. This allows the fighters to realistically bring their confidence and knowledge of various attacks to reality so that they will effectively be able to use those techniques in a real battle. Engaging in spiritual or biblical debates, issues, and discussions, is a perfect way to perfect your ability to memorize certain verses so that when true demonic opposition comes into your path the word of God will flow from your heart wielding a deadly blow unto the opposition. LET'S TAKE UP THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, SENDING EVERY EVIL SPIRIT BACK TO THE PIT.
